Re: 2009 KSA Cubs and Young Lions Tournament.

The above-mentioned tournament featuring athletes between the age of 15-19 years, competing in knockdown kumite {Fighting}, will be hosted by the KSA tournament Directorate as follows:-

  • Door entry fee         : R20.00 Adults & R10.00 Youth

                                           Divisions and categories

  • Cubs {Under 17 years: 15 & 16 year olds}
  • Girls                        : One open weight division
  • Boys                         : One open weight division
  • If an athlete turns seventeen on the tournament day he/she does not qualify for this division.
  •      Young Lions {Under 20 years: 17 – 19 year olds}

    • Girls                        : One open weight division
    • Boys                         : One open weight division
  • If an athlete turns twenty on the tournament day he/she does not qualify for this division.
  • NB: Proof of age {Identity document or birth certificate} will be strictly required. No proof of age no participation.

     Prizes and Positions

    • If there are 32 or less competitors in a division prizes will be awarded up to fourth place.
    • If there are more than 32 competitors in a division prizes will be awarded up to eighth place.

    NB: Although means will be made to provide the above - mentioned protective Gear athletes are urged to bring their own.

    Rules and conditions

    All competitors must:-

    • Complete the registration form and an indemnity portion. Forms are attached
    • Produce proof of age {Identity document or birth certificate}. No proof of age no participation.
    • Deposit participation fee of R100.00 into KSA Bank account and fax proof of payment before or on the 24th April 2009. Those who will fail to comply with the above must report for registration on Friday, 01st May from 15h00 to 19h30. No registration will be done on tournament day.
    • Wear clean and tidy dogi’s {Karate suits}, No karate suit that is torn, dirty or too small must be worn.
    • Have their toes and fingers nails clean and cut short.
    • Be at the tournament venue at 8h00 on Saturday, 02 May 2009 for competitors briefing to commence from 8h30 – 9h30, It is important for all competitors to be present at this meeting where they will be briefed on the rules for the actual fighting during the tournament.
  • All referees/judges {including table officials must attend the referee’s seminar to be conducted on Friday, 01st May from 15h00 – 19h30 at the tournament venue.
  • All presiding referees/judges must not act as seconds or assistants during the tournament.

    All referees must complete the official’s entry forms. {Forms are attached}

    Officials and Dress code

    Regions and provinces must supply as many referees as possible. All of them are requested to attend the referee’s seminar scheduled for Friday, 01 May, from 15h00 – 19h30 at the tournament venue. Shihan Stephen Martin at 083 282 8566 is responsible for refereeing.

    Dress code

    • Pants {Trousers/Skirts}                  : Navy blue/ black
    • Tops {Short Sleeved Shirts}          : Navy blue
    • Ties { Bow Ties}                           : White for centre referees & gold for corner judges

    Table Officials

    • Pants {Trousers/Skirts}                  : Navy blue/black
    • Tops { Short/Long Sleeved Shirt} : White

    Tournament Rules

    • The process of compiling rules to be approved and adopted for all future KSA tournaments is underway, under the supervision of Shihan Stephen Martin. Rules will be discussed and hopefully finalised on Friday, 01st May, during the referee’s seminar at the tournament venue.

    Accommodation

    • Places and contact numbers where accommodation will be available {At your own cost} will be forwarded to you before or on Friday, 27th March {next week}. Also Map to the tournament venue will be forwarded.

    Only those who will have made prior arrangements will be considered if they fail to comply with the entries closing date of April, 24th as no registration will be conducted on tournament day.

    Only athletes from regions and provinces already affiliated to KSA or will have already affiliated, will be allowed to partake on the tournament day.
