2008 KSA Children National Karate Championships

The above events will be hosted by the KSA Tournament Directorate, in conjunction with the Free State Karate Association on 9, 10 & 11 October 2008 in Bloemfontein.

THE PROGRAM OF EVENTS IS AS FOLLOWS:
●Monday, 29 September 2008 - Closing date for Entries and Awards Evening numbers on provided entry forms!
●Monday, 6 October 2008 - Entries returned to Provinces/Regions for a final check. The draw sheets to be printed on Wednesday, 8 October 2008 and no additions or changes allowed! The more detailed program of events will be available once all entries are received.
●Thursday, 9 October 2008
KSA National Management Workshop commences at 15:00 at the School of Armour, Tempe. It is important that all invited and nominated representatives attend this workshop!
Referees/Judges and Tournament Official Courses start at 18:00 at the School of Armour, Tempe (Cost for Referees/Judges Official Course and Tournament Official Course: R80 for the Course and R80 for the Exam).
●Friday, 10 October 2008 - Championship commences at 09:00 with Team Kata, Individual Kata Male and Female 8/9 years old and 10/11 years old followed by kumite for the same age groups! Contestants must arrive at 08:00! (Age is determined by the age of the contestant on 12 November 2008)
●Saturday, 11 October 2008
Championships commence at 08:00 with the March-on and Official Opening Ceremony. Contestants must arrive at 07:30! Team Kata, Kata Male and Female 12/13 years old followed by kumite for the same age groups will follow. (Age is determined by the age of the contestant on 12 November 2008)

TEAM KATA (UNISON): Teams must be either male or female and may only enter into one group. The Team Kata event will starts on Friday morning at 09:00!
- Group 1: 8/9 years and younger
- Group 2: 10/11years and younger
- Group 3: 12/13 years and younger (will take place on Saturday)
ENTRIES:
This is a National event and therefore only officially selected Provincial/Regional representatives may compete.
A maximum of 6 competitors per Province/Region per division will be allowed.
The entry fee is R100-00 per person per division and R90-00 per team kata (unison) team.
Before a Province/Region's entries are accepted, the full amount due must be deposited into the following bank account:

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS:
Kata
The Unison Kata Divisions for 8/9, 10/11 and 12/13 separating male & female. One Shitei kata is required which can be repeated and a free choice kata may be done in the final if so desired.
In Individual Divisions, one Shitei kata is required which can be repeated and a free choice kata may be done in the final if so desired.
Kumite
Red & Blue mitts, a white Head Guard with face protection and Gum Guards are compulsory. Shin & Foot Guards are optional.
THE FOLLOWING MATTERS ARE IMPORTANT:
We intend running 8 floors and it is therefore important that Provinces/Regions supply as many Referees and Tournament Officials as possible!
Only Coaches dressed in WKF specified attire will be allowed access into the competition area.

KSA Awards Presentation
-The aim of the KSA Awards Presentation evening is to give recognition to Athletes and Administrators that sacrifice their time and resources to build and represent South Africa on the National & World Karate Forum.
-The presentation takes place in the form of formal dinner followed by the awarding of a number of accolades to KSA Members.
-All KSA members are invited to attend the presentation at the School of Armour, Tempe at a cost of R100-00 per person. This fee will include the dinner.
-Regions are requested to indicate their numbers on the official attached entry form and deposit the above mentioned fee into the same account.
-A special award will be presented to every individual that had represented South Africa in 2008. It is expected of the Protea Team members to attend the Award Ceremony.
-Regional Leadership will be introduced and is expected to attend!
-The ceremony will commence at 18:00 on Saturday, 11 October 2008 and the dress code is strictly Academic (Blazer and Tie for men!)
