2008 KSA JUNIOR & CADET KARATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

The above Championship will be hosted by the KSA Tournament Committee, and facilitated by Hoosain Narker of Western Province, on
Friday, 1
and Saturday, 2 August 2008, in Belhar, Cape Town. 

THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS ARE:

  • Soon Pretorius (Tournament Director)
  • Ivan Eber          (Tournament Committee Secretary)
  • Selwyn Rhoda   (Chief Referee)
  • Wendy Jansen   (Tournament Officials)
  • Hoosain Narker (Hosting Region)

The following matters are important for this event:

  • -We have set stringent entry requirements in order to facilitate the growing number of competitors. All entries must be received by the Tournament Administration office by Monday, 21 July 2008, in electronic format (info@karateacademy.co.za) before 12:00. Draw sheets will be returned timeously  to all Regions for control purposes before the final draw sheets are printed.
  • -Only affiliated regional teams will be accepted to compete in this Tournament.

THE VENUE FOR THE TOURNAMENT IS:

Belhar Sports Centre, Belhar (Please find a route map below!)

THE PROGRAM OF EVENTS IS AS FOLLOWS:

-   Monday, 21 July 2008

-   Friday, 1 August 2008 

Referees/Judges Kumite Course and Examination (13:00 to 15:00)

  • All candidates for the Courses and Examinations must register with Selwyn Rhoda on or before Monday, 21 July 2008, at info@karate-zen.co.za  or 082 575 7944. (The cost of the Course - R80. Cost of the Course and Exam - R140)

Briefing for all Tournament Officials at the Championship (15:30 to 16:00)

  • -All those wishing to adjudicate at this event, must attend the above meeting. Remember that each Region must provide at least two referees/judges.

KSA Junior and Cadet KATA commence on 4 tatami’s (16:00 to 19:00)

Compulsory weigh-in for kumite competitors at venue (15:00 to 18:00)

-No weigh-in will be performed on Saturday!

ENTRY PROVISIONS:

  • A maximum of 4 competitors per Region per division will be allowed.
  • The entry fee is R100 per individual item and R90 per Team Kata entry.

  • A copy of the deposit slip must accompany the entry form and a second copy must be e-mailed to Ivan Eber at iekagano@absamail.co.za  Cash payments on the day of the Tournament will not be accepted! Unfortunately, NO additional entries or refunds will be entertained after the final draw sheets are printed!

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

-The WKF rules will apply.

  • Gum shields as well as red and blue mitts are compulsory.
  • Shin and foot protectors (blue/red) must be worn for all kumite events.
  • Cadet Kata competitors must be able to perform 2 Shitei Kata and 3 Free Choice Kata in the individual and team events (application of Kata in the final round of the team event will not be required).
  • Junior Kata Competitors must be able to perform 2 Shitei Kata and 5 Free Choice Kata in individual and team events (application in final round of Team Kata must be performed)

THE FOLLOWING MATTERS ARE IMPORTANT

  • Only Coaches dressed in WKF specified attire will be allowed access into the competition area.
  • Provinces/Regions must provide Referees/Judges/Tournament Officials for this National event.
